The Beginning Internet Marketer
Who am I?
Hello newbies, pros, and everyone alike! Welcome to The Beginner’s Guide to Online Marketing. My name is Mai Fay and to be frank, I’m a beginner at internet marketing. Besides all the information I’ve been reading, learning from all the gurus out there, and two failed attempts, I have very little experience, but I intend on changing that!
Who is this site for and why did I start this blog?
This site is for newbies just like me! But, of course, everyone is welcome! For the past year, I’ve been trying to immerse myself in internet marketing and I’ve even made two failed attempts at it.
But, truth be told, I’m suffering from information overload. Are you feeling the same? There’s just too many concepts and theories to follow. Don’t get me wrong, I love all this information, but I needed a way to organize it all.
So this blog serves multiple purposes:
1) A way for me to organize all the information I’ve learned. That helps me to better understand and put into action all these theories.
2) Is a way for me to stay accountable.
3) So other newbies can benefit from it as well. I hope to deliver easy to understand ideas and concepts without all the mumbo jumbo.
Why Internet Marketing?
Internet marketing or just marketing in general is essential to any business. I wanted to start an online business. But, quickly learned that I can easily throw stuff out there but no one will come if I don’t do any type of marketing. That’s the same for any brick and mortar store/business. Without a basic understanding of internet marketing, I-got-nowhere.
After realizing this, I decided there was a lot of learning I needed to do.
Personal info about me!
First and foremost, I’m a mother, a wife, and a working woman. In 2014 I refinanced my house for some equity to start a business. Well, after exhausting all my funds, what little I had in retirement savings, and two personal loans, that business failed. Now, I’m looking online as a means to make some money back and hopefully to live the lifestyle I want.
First, I dabbed into starting an ecommerce store, but quickly learned that without funds I had no way of carrying inventory. I tried dropshipping, but ran into too many barriers.
Then, I decided to try my hands at Copywriting. I invested what little money I had in two different Copywriting course only to realize that it wasn’t for me. I wanted to be my own boss. I didn’t want to work around other people’s deadlines. It would defeat the purpose of wanting to work for myself. I wanted to be the one hiring the Copywriter, NOT BE the Copywriter.
What’s my goal?
My goal for 2016 is to replace my 9-5 income with making money online. I’m committed to a lifestyle change. I want to spend my time with my son. I’m tired of having to drop my son off every morning, make the drive to work, be there for the majority of the day, and finally…only to spend 2 hours max with him at the end of the day.
I hope to help others out there who’s also on their own path of a lifestyle change…or simply just to making money (that’s not bad either so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise). I’m holding myself accountable. There’s no one but myself to keep me on track.
Remember: The first step to starting is to start!
Here’s to all our success!
